Proven survival benefit in first-line metastatic breast cancer
Herceptin has been shown to increase overall survival when given in combination with chemotherapy in women with HER2-positive MBC compared to chemotherapy alone.
Herceptin has been shown to increase overall survival when given in combination with chemotherapy in women with HER2-positive MBC compared to chemotherapy alone.
The Phase III TAnDEM trial demonstrated the benefit of combining Herceptin with an aromatase inhibitor (anastrozole) in post-menopausal women with HER2/hormone receptor co-positive disease. It showed that the addition of Herceptin to hormonal therapy doubles the median progression-free survival.
Trials of Herceptin in combination with vinorelbine, gemcitabine and Xeloda have yielded high activity in HER2-positive MBC, both as first-line therapy and in pretreated disease.
